Chiltern Railways have announced that they will be operating amended timetables over the festive period from Thursday 24th December to Friday 01st January. The train operator is asking customers to check their journey before travelling and allow additional time as journeys may take longer than usual or require changing trains to reach their destination. There may also be queueing systems in place at some stations at busier times.
On Thursday 24th December services will be winding down early and customers should check the Chiltern website or app for the times of the last trains. On Friday 25 and Saturday 26 December no Chiltern Railways services will operate.
On Sunday 27th and Monday 28th December services will be lengthened to allow for social distancing as there may be an increase in the number of people travelling. Customers are advised to check the Chiltern Railways website for train times.
From Tuesday 29th December until Friday 1st January engineering works between Warwick Parkway and Dorridge mean that the line between these stations is closed and buses will replace trains between these stations. There will be two trains per hour between Birmingham Moor Street – Dorridge, Marylebone – Warwick Parkway and Marylebone – Oxford.
Additionally, Chiltern Railways will be running some extra late-night services from London Marylebone until 01.10 to allow customers to get home safely.
During the festive period customers are advised to travel during quieter times where possible (particularly during the December 23 to 27 Christmas bubble), wear a face covering when at stations or onboard services unless exempt and maintain social distancing where possible. Additional hand washing facilities have also been installed at Marylebone station to help customers travel safely.
