Travel advice: Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 March - Major engineering works

Line closures with rail replacement buses on Saturday 29 & 30 March 2025

On Saturday 29 & 30 March there will be track works at multiple locations on the network.

Summary of the service on Saturday 29 March - Track works at Sudbury and Princes Risborough:

The railway is closed between Wembley Stadium and Denham, and also between Saunderton and Haddenham & Thame Parkway/Aylesbury all day. Rail replacement buses will operate as follows, connecting with trains at Aylesbury Vale Parkway, Bicester Village, Bicester North and with London Underground Metropolitan Line services to/from Baker Street at Hillingdon:

• Hillingdon (LU) - Denham - Gerrards Cross - Beaconsfield - High Wycombe - Princes Risborough - Haddenham & Thame Parkway - Bicester Village - Bicester North.
• Hillingdon (LU) - Denham - Gerrards Cross - Beaconsfield - High Wycombe - Saunderton - Princes Risborough - Little Kimble - Aylesbury.
• Aylesbury Vale Parkway - Bicester Village - Bicester North.
• Some late night buses will be extended to/from Banbury.

Summary of the service on  Sunday 30 March 30 March -Track works at Sudbury, Princes Risborough and Bicester South Junction:

The railway is closed between Wembley Stadium and Denham, and also between Saunderton and Bicester Village/Bicester North/Aylesbury all day. Rail replacement buses will operate as follows, connecting with trains at Aylesbury Vale Parkway, Bicester Village, Bicester North and with London Underground Metropolitan Line services to/from Baker Street at Hillingdon:

• Hillingdon (LU) - Denham - Gerrards Cross - Beaconsfield - High Wycombe - Princes Risborough - Haddenham & Thame Parkway - Bicester Village - Bicester North.
• Hillingdon (LU) - Denham - Gerrards Cross - Beaconsfield - High Wycombe - Saunderton - Princes Risborough - Little Kimble - Aylesbury.
• Aylesbury Vale Parkway - Bicester Village - Bicester North.
• Some late night buses will be extended to/from Banbury.

In connection with the above engineering works, an enhanced service of 2 trains per hour will operate between Marylebone and stations to Aylesbury Vale Parkway on both days.

What work is happening and why?

The engineering work on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 March will involve track upgrades and maintenance work to help keep the railway and journeys safe and reliable for passengers and freight services. Additionally, the timing of this work is scheduled outside of busy travel periods to minimise disruption and avoid dates where sporting events are planned.

Travel advice for both days:

Passengers travelling between Marylebone - Bicester Village/Bicester North and stations to Oxford/Birmingham should travel via Aylesbury Vale Parkway.

Passengers travelling between Marylebone - stations to Haddenham & Thame Parkway should travel via Hillingdon (LU).
